Ever since Michael Ford took over the Wine Up at 3306C N. Davidson St., he has flung the doors open to local theater groups, including Citizens of the Universe, PaperHouse and Stephen Seay Productions. Nor has Ford been afraid to take a laissez-faire attitude toward how his funky upstairs space is configured or used, even offering dinner theater recently with reinforcements from the nearby Boudreaux's restaurant. Hell, he's even changed the name of the NoDa landmark to UpStage, emphasizing its new theater thrust. Not to worry, though, he's held onto the beverage license. www.upstagenoda.com
