A member of the Human Rights Campaign's national board of governors, Scott Bishop also serves as chairman of the Mecklenburg LGBT Political Action Committee, where he has pushed the city to expand nondiscrimination policies and domestic-partner benefits. In July and August, Bishop took the lead (and some heat) on pushing the mayor and City Council to speak out against anti-LGBT violence in its Russian sister city, Voronezh.
