This honor should rightly go to a joint that hosts jazz talent of local and national stature nightly in Banktown. So the Bechtler Museum is actually shaming dim-witted entrepreneurs all across our fair city with its Jazz at the Bechtler series, which doesn't play nearly that often. Although it isn't crammed with cocktail tables, the Bechtler lobby does sport a bar, some club seating and surprisingly fine acoustics. When Ziad and Maria Howell get it going, it has been standing room only with a fabulous vibe - so the Becht has had to expand to two sets to accommodate the traffic. Amazing that no grubby, greedy promoters are cashing in on this phenomenon. Stupid, actually.
