A repeat winner - and snagging this award for the final time. Yes, the tragic news is that Breakfast Club, Charlotte's '80s dance club for about a decade, has shut its doors. But as suitable placation, owner Jody Sullivan is starting a new venture downtown called the Roxbury. Thankfully, the Roxbury will carry the Breakfast Club's spirit to 5th Street, and the city will still have a place for folks to spazz out to their favorite hits from the '80s (and, now, the '90s as well).
