Watson’s reporting has earned him scads of national accolades. But what most earned him recent attention was his reporting on Gloria Pace King’s whopping $1.2 million compensation from United Way of Central Carolinas (see The Marie Antoinette Philanthropist of the Year in the City Life section). We don’t know if it will result in any changes — the organization’s leadership seems to be bullheaded and oblivious at this point — but one thing’s for sure, it’s put the agency on its toes.
