OK, when you check out the WFAE website, click the Charlotte Talks tab and see the range of topics Mike Collins and his intrepid staff manage to cover in a typical month on his live one-hour morning talk show. Politics, culture, science, health, recreation — the whole gamut passes in review, far beyond the breadth of interests that any normal person or genius can be expected to have. Yet Mike comes better-prepared as an interviewer than most hosts with more specialized shows on the national feed. And when Mike opens the phone lines to listeners, he doesn’t close his mind to what they have to say. Nor does he suffer idiocy to go unchallenged.
