KJ VanDerwerken has always had a passion for real estate. At age 22, he purchased his first home. Shortly after, KJ started a real estate holding company, VanDerwerken Properties. His main focus has been investing in long-term, income producing residential rental properties in the Charlotte region. KJ is a problem-solver who wants to help others, and he is doing just that.
KJ also works as an insurance agent with Movement Insurance. KJ prides his work on loving and valuing people. As an Insurance consultant, KJ has helped over 3,100 Charlotte (and extended areas) residents in their home buying process – by assessing their insurance needs, educating them on different coverage options and implementing policies to protect, for most of them, the single largest investment they will ever make. As an independent insurance agent he's capable of shopping with several different carriers, who offer a wide variety of products and prices to find the best overall fit for his clients. Although his main priority is getting homeowners insurance in place for closings, KJ can handle all your insurance needs. He is able to to assist in securing a policy for autos, boats, umbrella, motorcycles, jewelry - and even your business. In doing so, he's produced and is currently servicing a personal lines (insurance) book of business exceeding $3,000,000.
In 2018, KJ won two 30 under 30 awards in the Charlotte, NC region. He's also a two-time Five Star Professional award recipient. He's been an agent with Movement Insurance for over seven years.
What advice would you give your 21-year-old self?
"Find out what makes you genuinely happy. Determine the life you want to live every day and go all in to get it. Effort is one variable we all have control over. Surround yourself with positive people. Perspective and gratitude are everything. Stay hungry and stay humble," says VanDerwerken.
