Lunch Break (1/6/15): Unlike city council, county commission votes against toll lanes

Posted By on Wed, Jan 6, 2016 at 11:30 AM

Just one night after the Charlotte City Council voted to move ahead with the roads plan that includes the controversial I-77 toll lanes, the Mecklenburg Board of County of Commissioners voted last night in a landslide to take a stance against the $650 million plan. The board voted 8-1 to direct its representative on the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization to either vote to cancel the state's contract with Cintra, the developer in charge of building the toll lanes, or to vote more broadly against using optional toll lanes in the Charlotte area. The CRTPO will vote Jan. 20 on whether to reaffirm its roads plan, which includes optional toll lanes, or move in a different correction. (Jonathan McFadden, Charlotte Observer)

As of now, it is believed the assaults involved one woman in her early 60s who lived at the facility. He is currently being held in the Iredell County Jail. (WBTV Web Staff)
