Join us here at CL in welcoming Robert Bush as the new president of the Arts & Science Council, as announced in a press release sent out to us yesterday. He's no newbie to the ASC, which is the chief advocate for Charlotte's cultural community - strategically and financially. Bush has served as interim president for ASC since July 2013 and has also filled roles as senior vice president and chief innovation officer in the past.

In a time when arts funding lacks considerably, the right person at the top of the food chain can do wonders.

Bush's experience outside of ASC includes the Mint Museum, where he was the first director of development in 1984. He also served as president and CEO of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and did some time at the Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne in Indiana. In addition, Bush worked on policy boards for Americans for the Arts, a national arts and arts education nonprofit organization.

Here's hoping the new/old guy continues the organization's mission of grant/fundraising ops, educational programs, overcoming challenges faced by cultural organizations and offering services to the community at large.
