Coravin’s founder Greg Lambrecht was in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this month and I had the opportunity to meet with him and learn about his unique and fascinating background, and how Coravin is changing the way the world drinks wine!
Greg Lambrecht is the Inventor, Founder, and Chairman of Coravin, a consumer products company focused on offering access to wine from a bottle without removing the cork. Like magic. Mr. Lambrecht has a degree in nuclear engineering from MIT, a career in medical technologies and a passion for wine. Combining this unique mix led to a product that changes the way people across the world drink wine.

Like any successful product, this patented invention started with a problem. In the late 1990s, Lambrecht's wife was pregnant with their second child and had stopped drinking. Greg had acquired dozens of wine bottles as gifts and found himself wanting to try the fine wines. Greg found it was never the "right time" to uncork and enjoy the bottles that were in the "too good to drink" category. What if he could just enjoy a glass of one? Greg began to think about a way to pass a needle through the cork, pour a glass and remove the needle — without introducing oxygen into the wine. A decade and over a dozen iterations of his concept later, Lambrecht founded Coravin in 2013.
Today, the Coravin can be found in over 60 countries and is powered by a team of 50 employees based in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
"Our innovative products empower wine lovers to explore the world of wine at any level, with any bottle, at any time. Our award-winning Coravin Wine Preservation System enables wine lovers to pour any wine, in any amount, without removing the cork." - Coravin
