Nominees have been announced for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards being held on Feb. 8, 2015. Sam Smith and Beyonce are each nominated in five categories with the announcement for Album of the Year set to be announced tonight.

Local Traumatic singer appears on 'X Factor'

Julia Bullock, singer of the Charlotte pop-rock band the Local Traumatic, appeared on last night's episode of X Factor and sang a slinky, Gwen Stefani-esque version Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks." The competition/reality TV show is similar to American Idol, but on X Factor, the judges — Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears (How is the queen of lip synching fit to judge a vocal competition?)

The Avett Brothers were on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to play a cover of Bob Dylan's "One Too Many Mornings". The song is featured on Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International — a 75-track, four disc set benefiting Amnesty International.

Charlotte Symphony chorus director receives Grammy nomination

Scott Allen Jarrett, the Charlotte Symphony’s director of choruses and assistant conductor, received a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Choral Performance" as part of his performance with the Miami-based choral ensemble Seraphic Fire’s recording of "Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem." The chorus’ performance of "Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem" debuted at number six on the Billboard Classical music charts last September.
