Overmountain Men return to the Milestone (Dec. 30)

OVERMOUNTAIN MEN Any David Childers beats no David Childers, so it’s always a treat to see one of the South’s most underappreciated songwriters and performers playing live. Overmountain Men is the post-Don Juans’ vehicle Childers and the Avett Brothers’ Bob Crawford put together as a casual outlet for both when they had the time and inclination. Thing is, their 2010 release, Glorious Day, was so chockablock with fine Appalachian folk, Piedmont country rock, and Childers’ literate historical/personal narratives that people have been clamoring for more. With the Wiggle Wagons, Jeremiah and the Howling Owls and Funky Geezer. $8. The Milestone. www.themilestoneclub.com.
