Lollapalooza in Chicago this weekend

I'm heading up to the Windy City to cover Lollapalooza 2010 in Chicago this weekend. The three-day festival is now in a single location, for all-day music.

Having been to Bonnaroo for the last four years and checking out Voodoo Fest last year in New Orleans, I'm curious to see how Lollapalooza stacks up. I remember going to Lolla the first few years back in the early '90s when it was headlined by Jane's Addiction, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Alice in Chains.

This year, the headliners are Lady Gaga, Green Day and a reunited Soundgarden. It should be interesting, to say the least.

Much like the coverage at those other festivals, I'll be posting daily blogs here and sending out Twitter messages to let you know what's going on.

As for the bands I'm hoping to check out — here's a few:

The Ettes, American Bang, Matt & Kim, Lady Gaga, The Black Keys, Metric, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Social Distortion, Gogol Bordello, Minus the Bear, Perry Farrell, Green Day, MGMT and Soundgarden.

It's not going to be an easy choice between Soundgarden and Arcade Fire, but they're on opposite ends of the park at the same time. I'm also hoping Arcade Fire will pass through town in support of their new album in the near future.

Stay tuned!
