Support has poured in after a south Charlotte worship leader's son was killed in a car wreck near Wilmington involving the entire family. Gentry Eddings, a worship leader at Forest Hills Church, and his wife suffered only minor injuries, but their 2-year-old son, Dobbs, was killed. The wife, Hadley Gentry, was 8 months pregnant and delivered a baby boy, Reed, by emergency C-section. Supporters have
raised nearly $80,000 in one day via a GoFundMe page to help with the family's medical expenses. UPDATE: The newborn boy has died from injuries suffered in the wreck.
Carowinds plans to
close its Thunder Road roller coaster on July 26 in preparation for further renovations of the park. The coaster has been open for nearly 40 years and takes riders on a series of hills and drops on the border of North and South Carolina.
