For the last three years, filmmaker and UNC Charlotte film studies professor Rusty Sheridan has been collecting footage of the grassroots movement to bring the Charlotte Hornets back to the Queen City. He's interviewed Hornets/Bobcats players and looked into the importance of the moniker to the city and its people. Now, he needs money to finish his project.

Charlotte Hornets, 2.0 is currently raising money through a Kickstarter campaign to help finance post-production work including editing, marketing, music and film festival entries. If all goes well, Sheridan will raise more than $12,000 to finish his project and release the movie next spring.

“This film is not just about a basketball team," Sheridan says in a press release. "It’s about the significance of the Hornets Nest metaphor in representing the tenacious fighting spirit of Charlotteans today and all the way back to the Revolutionary War."
