According to the new census numbers, Charlotte is the 16th most populous city in the United States. Our population stands at an estimated 792,862. No wonder parking is so terrible in NoDa and Plaza Midwood on the weekends. (Side note: Charlotte was also recently ranked 10th worst city for pedestrians.)

A local shop owner received a surprise shipment of $250,000 worth of weed. "The description said chrome accessories and dash kits and that's basically what we sell. So my first thought was maybe a vendor had sent it to me to resell it," said Miguel Garcia.

The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte - which has been struggling financially for some time - is considering asking the County Commission for help. "That has never been done. No one has ever broken through that barrier. ... All they need is a motion and a second to get on the line item and then it's open for discussion," said Charlotte Business Guild President Chad Sevearance.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett says he won't challenge a judge's recent overturn of the state's ban on gay marriage, making it the 25th state in the U.S. where same-sex couples can get married.

Due to immigration issues, Mos Def has reportedly been denied re-entry into the United States and was forced to cancel his tour. The rapper doesn't live in his native country anymore, having moved to Cape Town in 2009.
