Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

Love Sux at Howl at the Moon: There should be nothing solemn about being single. Single people can do what they want, when they want. They don't have to worry about coordinating their schedules with a significant others or dealing with drama that often falls onto the relationship turf. Being single is something to celebrate and on this day that's force fed to us as being lovey and romantic, we're telling you (yes, you!) to get out of the house and enjoy your singlehood. Outside the Box Dating is organizing the shindig at Howl at the Moon, which includes includes access to a buffet (from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and drink specials (p.s., the first two drinks are just $1 each). Days of Heaven at ImaginOn's Wells Fargo Playhouse: Terrence Malick's second film (after 1973's Badlands) was this 1978 endeavor that, even more than his debut, set the template for the type of thematically pensive, beautifully photographed mood piece that would define his career throughout the ensuing decades. Set on a Texas farm, the film centers on a particularly fraught love triangle between a laborer (Richard Gere), his boss (Sam Shepard) and the woman (Brooke Adams) they both love. Nestor Almendros' cinematography is the stuff of legend and earned the Academy Award, but Ennio Morricone's score is also noteworthy. Free admission. Charlotte African American Festival at Grady Cole Center: Celebrating the African American community at large, this event includes music, art, dancing, drumming, food and more. There will also be marching band and step competitions, a pageant, guest speakers, vendors and an awards ceremony. To give the fest an extra educational touch, a Harriet Tubman impersonator will guide visitors through an "Underground Railroad" trail, and there will be other impersonators along "The Famous Black History Walk of Fame."
