When I began my journey as a TEDx organizer, as a steering-committee member of TEDxCharlotte four years ago, I had no idea that it would open me up to a world that included some of the most capable, thoughtful and civically engaged people I have ever met.
At TEDxBeaconStreet in Boston I heard John D. Spooner talk about how the most important thing in life is relationships, ones rooted in face-to-face interaction - the real stuff. Attending TEDxCharlotte will create such relationships with the people who still see hope in this world, who believe they have the power to fix it, and know that collectively, if we need something done, all we ever need do is work together to accomplish it. You'll leave with a sense of empowerment, as if the shared positive energy has rubbed off on you. It makes you feel like anything is possible.
I once heard it described as "idea sex," and that is exactly what it is.
TEDxCharlotte will be held at the Silver Hammer Studios, 817 Hamilton St., across from the NC Music Factory Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Click here for directions and here to purchase tickets. For more information about TEDx, click here.
