15 Short Film Festival — started up by Charlotte natives Ryan Walker, Antonio Diaz and Keith Whatley — occupied the quarters of The Evening Muse on Sunday. The fest screens short flicks (15 minutes or less) in the genres of documentary, experimental, narrative, comedy and animation, from around the world. This year’s films included the following:

Skateistan (Afghanistan)
The Dancer (India)

Experimental
Current — reprise (USA)
Das Tub (New Zealand)
The Man in 1813 (USA)
Los Gritones(The Screamers) (Spain)

Narrative

Cold Blood (Canada)
David & Goliath (Germany)

Comedy

Shanghai Love Market (China)

Animation

Paths of Hate (Poland)

My top five personal faves were: Bathing Micky (a documentary about a 100 year old lady who swims and shares her insightful views on life), Skateistan (a documentary about a program helping children to skateboard in Afghanistan), Paths of Hate (an action-packed animation about two damned and determined pilots dog fighting in and out of the air), I’m Having A Difficult Time Killing My Parents (a comedy about a son's drastic attempts to kill his parents in the hopes of an inheritance) and Shanghai Love Market (a comedy about a looney mother's attempt to find - or not - a wife for her son).
