Yesterday, News14 did a story on 12-year-old Jordan Mitzel (read and view it here). He's the kid who, year after year, raises an amazing amount of money for the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network's annual AIDS Walk.

First of all, I'd just like to say, on behalf of Creative Loafing, that we LOVE Jordan for who he is and for what he's doing to help others. Jordan, you are a true inspiration to this community and everyone in it.

Second, in the article, Nathan Smith, RAIN's Director of Development and Marketing, is quoted as saying, "People see that someone who's ten or eleven-years-old can do something amazing and think if that person can do it, so can I.”

Please take a moment to linger on Mr. Smith's statement.

(I'll wait.)

Dootdoodado ... waiting, you linger ... really soak that message in, mmmkay?

People, you need to take that statement to heart ... for really though.

Your effort does count — Jordan is proof, so pick up those dreams of yours and get moving. One person can change the world, but those people aren't sitting around waiting for everything to be perfect before they get started. Take that big goal of yours and break it down into tiny, easy-to-do bits and get going. That's an order.
