VaudeVizual hits Booth

Cirque du Soleil acrobat Karl Baumann has flown into Charlotte before – both in touring productions and homegrown fare. His most recent Cirque visitation was at Time-Warner Arena, where Delirium played in 2006. Three years earlier, Baumann spread his theater wings in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Theatre Charlotte as the most bouncy, airborne Puck we’ve ever seen on a local stage. Directed by Charlotte Rep founder Steve Umberger, Baumann’s gravity-defying Puck made subsequent appearances in the region, perhaps most notably in the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival Dream of 2009.

Now he’s back in town with the new Omimeo Mime Theatre production, VaudeVizual. Karl being Karl will supply the acrobatic and aerial components of the show. Count on Hardin Minor and Eddie Williams, the heart and funnybone of Omimeo, to pile on the vaudeville, black light, masks, mime, and clowning condiments.

Shows are Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Booth Playhouse.
