Seriously. If you weren't hanging out in the Twitterverse last night, you totally need to check out #cltcc (the hashtag for Charlotte City Council meetings). You're either going to have to read the Tweets backward or you'll need to scroll back to the beginning and read until the end.
Here's what the excitement is about:
1) Twitter is altering Democracy like no one could have imagined. More and more public meetings are being live-Tweeted, which allows you a seat at the table. Often, you can converse directly with elected officials during the meetings. This is unprecedented ... and very exciting. Now, you have no excuse for being ill-informed on what's shakin' at city hall.
2) As we told you yesterday, a Charlotte attorney delivered her report on sexual harassment allegations made by FIVE city employees last night. You could feel the tension in the room via Twitter.
3) Other stuff was also discussed.
It's not necessary to have a Twitter account to tune in to the #cltcc hashtag. Just go to search.twitter.com and type in #cltcc (#meckbocc for county meetings, #cmlibrary for library news, #cmsboard for school board news, etc.).
Here's someone else who's excited about the way Twitter is modernizing democracy:
