The Charlotte Observer has announced that the paper is cutting 25 more jobs, as a result of declining revenue. The cuts, according to Observer publisher Ann Slasher Caulkins, include 11 newsroom positions. Details werent given in the Observers official statement, but were told that copy editors and designers are the most likely victims. Considering that the paper has seen a big spike in embarrassing typos, words appearing out of nowhere, and unfinished sentences in the past couple of years, youd think someone on South Tryon would figure out that ditching more copy editors might be bad for the papers credibility, but no. If the Slasher thinks it's hard to sell advertising now, how is it going to help to make the paper seem as if it's being produced by a group of illiterates?
