Patrons who went to Regal Stonecrest this afternoon to catch the Jonas Brothers' new movie, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, got a little more than they bargained for. Real life is better than 3D, obviously.

The Jonas Brothers snuck in the back door of one theater to say hi, wave to their fans, and thank them for coming out to see the movie. BadaBING. And they left.

And when they left, the crowds of teeny boppers who were waiting outside went wild.

I'd never seen anything like it. Cops had to hold these girls back. See photos for the passionate angst these young girls endured just for a glimpse of their idols.

The men of Johnson C. Smith came into the Friday night game hoping to join their female counterparts in the championship game on Saturday. They took on the dark horse, Virgina State.

But a slow start seemed to spell an upset, as VSU took a five point lead and out-rebounded the 2008 champions.

With 9:48 in the first half, Smith began showing flashes of what got them to 20 wins this season as they began forcing turnovers and getting offensive rebounds.

Still, VSU led the Golden Bulls 22 to 16.

Side Fashion note: Cheerleaders should not do stripper moves on the floor or wear glitter lotion.

Just as it looked as if the Golden Bulls were about take the lead, a costly turnover gave VSU a three-point advantage. With 1:46 left in the first half, Smith cut into the VSU lead and played tough defense. They were only down by two points.

But, VSU wouldn't stop their press. They contested every shot and forced turnovers as it looked like JC Smith was about to go on a run.

Side fashion note: Velvet sport coats don't look good on anybody, especially the big and tall man.

At halftime, Steve Harvey took the floor and thanked the fans. He also apologized for missing his show this morning to go tape Oprah and said, "I ain't never been that close to a billionaire before, I was thinking about tongue kissing her today."

Score at halftime: JCSU: 30 VSU: 32

The second half started with a dunk and a tie score. It looked as if JC Smith was about to make a big run, but turnovers got in the way. Defense and rebounding kept the game close.

With 14:23 in the second half, JC Smith took a 41 to 35 lead. But they didn't keep it long as VSU began hitting the three-point shot and took a one point lead with 11:43 left in the game.

Then JC Smith when on an 4-0 run, taking a four-point lead with 7:51 left in the game. The lead expanded to six with 5:11 left in the game, but free throws by VSU made it interesting.

Side fashion note: If the shoes hurt your feet hurt, they aren't cute.

VSU wouldn't lay down for the champs, with 2:10 left in the game, they cut the lead to two. But a three pointer from JC Smith expanded the lead.

As the last seconds of the game ticked away, it was clear that the CIAA finals would again be an all-JCSU affair.

Final score:

JC Smith: 63 VSU: 56

The Lady Golden Bulls made the second semifinal game of the day interesting with a last minute shot before halftime that tied the game with the St. Augustine's Lady Falcons. The crowd for this women's game was much better than the start of the tournament. Score one for Mother Nature and the rain. I'm sure that drove people inside.

The second half started with JC Smith and St. Aug trading baskets and turnovers. With 12:06 left in the game, JC Smith was down by three points and the officials were calling every ticky tack foul. But at least the whistles were being blown on both ends of the floor. However, the fouls stopped the runs that either team needed to make it to the Championship game to face the Bowie State Bulldogs.

Side Fashion note: Fans who attend the women's games don't dress to impress. They actually dress like basketball fans, wearing school colors and the like.

The Golden Bulls played a sloppy second half, unable to take the lead because they kept committing fouls and missing easy lay-ups. It was almost as if they thought beating Shaw in the quarterfinals meant the were already the champions.

With a little under six minutes to go, JC Smith was down 42 to 47 and turning the ball over. But Smith got offensive and took a one point lead with 3:53 left in the half forcing the Lady Falcons to take a timeout. But after the timeout, the Lady Golden Bulls continued to build on their lead.

With 2:36 left in the game, the Golden Bulls were up 55 to 49. And they held on to the lead, shooting their way into the finals for the second year in a row. Could this be the year that the women win it all?

The Wachovia Championship has been replaced by the Quail Hollow Championship.

The annual PGA Tour stop in Charlotte – scheduled April 27-May 3 this year – has been renamed for the course where it is played, another result of the on-going financial crisis.

It's not personal, it's business.

The life of a repo man is always intense.

While Dan Potts tries to help leasing agencies and business debtors avoid repossession through collections, he’s often faced with the inevitable.

“At the end of the day, the liability doesn’t change,” he said. “We can either do it the easy way or we can do it the hard way.”

If necessary, his company will hunt down a slippery personal guarantor or show up at a business with a truck, court order and police escort to take equipment away.
