A story from the AP reports that the GOP spent $150,000 for Gov. Sarah Palin's wardrobe in September.

"The expenses include $75,062 spent at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis Minn., and $41,850 in St. Louis in early September. The committee also reported spending $4,100 for makeup and hair consulting."

What the heck? You're telling me that just to dress and pretty up Sarah Palin, the Republican National Committee spent $150,000?

To ruffle your feathers a little more, McCain spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt had this to say in response: "With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

Yeah, one of those important issues we're facing include the decline of the economy. Here we've got people barely able to keep a roof over their heads, gas in their tanks and food on their table, and the GOP blew almost $80,000 at Neiman Marcus on clothes and accessories. What, Macy's isn't good enough?

Note to GOP: It's a good bet that Joe the Plumber and hockey moms didn't blow that kind of cash shopping for their wardrobes.
