Frequency measurements

Single Cell Productions (Think: Purgatory shows) did something a little different (Don’t they always?) this past weekend with Nocturnal Frequencies Alternative Arts and Music Festival held on Sat., July 12 at Amos’ Southend. The upstairs of the venue featured displays of photography/art (very fetish, artistic and a little dirty) by Justin Kates, Mystic photography, Erodios photography and more. In addition, Venus (you might know her from NoDa gallery crawls) displayed her crafty and one-of-a-kind jewelry and fetish vendors set up shop downstairs. It was interesting to see the photographers/artists works, but I have to say the bands (Filth On Demand, Echostream, Angels On Acid and more) really rocked the festival. My personal favorite was NY-based band, Echostream whose hard-rocking electronica mixed perfectly with vocalist Ryoko’s soft and melodic voice. Together they played an impressive set of tracks, along with an excellent cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” I left the show wanting a copy of their album. Although the fest didn’t come close to generating a packed room like Purgatory’s always do, it certainly did offer some good music, art and a sample of fetish fun. I’d go again.
