Growing up in South Carolina makes it hard for me to be a fan of the ACC. My uncle works for the University of South Carolina, so cheering for Clemson was out of the question.
After living in Charlotte and attending the CIAA tournament for the last few years, I figured the ACC was going to be a snooze fest (for people who aren't really into basketball anyway) and I was right.
Can you believe that people actually came to town to watch basketball? And they're dressed in school colors. In Uptown yesterday, I saw people wearing GA Tech T-shirts and jeans and sneakers. You don't see much of that during the CIAA.
And the scalpers. My goodness, they roll up on you like they have crack in their pocket and you're dying to take a hit. Dude, I don't want no fucking tickets, I need you to get your stinking ass out of my face.
Then you have the scalpers that hound you for tickets to sell. Do I look like I have a ticket? Dude — back the hell up.
But the funniest thing is, when the cops go to help people cross the street, the ticket price jumps up.
Good thing I'm not a snitch.
Below is my friend NewCat. He was the talk of the CIAA and you can bet you won't see dudes dressed like this during the ACC. It's a shame, really.
