Riedel wine tasting

Maximilian Riedel, the CEO of wine glass company Riedel, hosted a comparative wine tasting at the Marriott Uptown on Friday, Feb. 18. Riedel (prounounced ree-dl) was quite humorous during his 1 hour talk.

Seems like Dunkin' Donuts is rolling out new food items all the time, doesn't it? I'm not a fan of their pancake sausage bites, but perhaps these new donut creations might win me over.

Paula Deen's Kitchen officially open at Harrah's Cherokee Hotel and Casino

Paula Deen visited Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel this past weekend for the ribbon cutting of her new restaurant at the hotel, Paula Deen's Kitchen. As a Paula fan, I trekked myself there (it's 3 hours from Charlotte) and spent a fabulous weekend checking out the new hotel additions, eating at the restaurant, enjoying her cooking demonstration and show, and meeting her family and crew.

In the old auto shop with the red, white, and blue VW Bug on the roof, Pinky's Westside Grill has opened in Wesley Heights on the corner of Morehead Street and Freedom Drive. The restaurant with ties to The Penguin (read more about that here), offers a few familiar menu items as well as many different ones.

Fundraiser at Noodles & Company today, plus free food, free seeds

Don't forget that Noodles & Company is hosting an all-day 25% benefit fundraiser today (Tuesday, Sept. 28) for Slow Food Charlotte at The Arboretum and South End restaurants. Funds raised at the benefit will help create and support school garden programs in Mecklenburg County.
