#hashtaghungry: Lunges and Lunches, Ganttfest, more

In light of recent world events, I thought it might be nice to fill this week’s list with happenings to feed the spirit and bring us all closer together. Bottomless mimosa pitchers generally fill that need for me, but I’m a work in progress. Here’s some soul food for the rest of y’all.

• Who doesn’t love a gift that keeps on giving? Head to NoDa Brewing for a White Elephant Gift Party, only instead of passing off an unwanted gift, pass along a nifty craft beer for someone else to enjoy. It’s seriously just that simple. Share the beer. #yeswecans
July 21, 6:45 p.m.
NoDa Brewing Company, 2229 N. Davidson St.

• Commune with nature and support our fine feathered friends at Thursday Night Flights, a weekly music, food and imbibing event at the Carolina Raptor Center. This week, Chill-lax Chilled Wine will be on hand for sampling while Comfort Food Truck provides the grub. Members of Davidson band Sunday Union will be playing the tunes to help kick off your weekend. #itgivesyouwings

The Prayer Project is a community-devised art project. Written and choreographed by the cast, the play is based on anonymous prayer submissions collected in spring. To celebrate, director Heidi Breeden’s final show in Charlotte, performances will feature a “bake (not) sale” full of tasty bites where the wages of sentiment is death … by chocolate. Pay a prayer, get a treat and maybe get featured in the show. #dailybreads
$10 suggested donation
July 24 & 25, 8 p.m.
Kadi Fit, 19725 Oak St. Suite 3, Cornelius, NC.
Check here for more info on the show.

• After a hardcore workout, I like to eat hummus and grass sprouts to honor my body. Then I immediately hit the nearest McDonald’s to honor my appetite with fries. That’s my treat! Get rid of the bad temptations and learn better options at Lunges and Lunches. DeAnna Taylor of Taylored Fitness Charlotte will lead you through a boot camp workout while Chef Barry Francois demonstrates healthy, easy food options. If the meal at the end doesn’t tempts you to power through the workout, I don’t know what will. #justrewards
$15. RSVP here and pay in person.
July 26, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Midtown Park (Kings Drive and Pearl Park Way)

Ganttfest is an annual, family-friendly celebration of the Harvey B. Gantt center and its mission to present, preserve, support the arts and culture of the African diaspora. The center marks its 40th anniversary this year with a little something for everyone, including hands-on art and music workshops for kids and adults, film screenings and live music, food trucks, and a cooking demonstration. Tighten up your technique with Chef Cary Neff of Morrison Healthcare as he guides you through ways to add health and nutrition to classic Southern meals. #happyroots
Free for members, veterans and their families. $5 for other guests.

Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, 551 S. Tryon St.

• I’ve instinctively rolled up into Apanasana after a heavy meal, but that’s as far as I’ve ever mixed yoga and food. Satisfy your Prana this weekend and enjoy an intimate yoga session with Kelley Carboni-Woods, followed by vegan eats and cocktails provided by Jasiatic. The menu includes baingan bharta, spiked mango lassi and those collard green spring rolls tho… #onewitheverything
