Upcoming: Not your ordinary Valentine's Day events

Whether you're single or part of a couple, everyone gets sick of the traditional wine and dine Valentine's Day experience from time to time. If the thought of a fancy meal has you yawning, here are a few alternative Valentine's Day plans for the more adventurous spirit.

Valentine's Day Zipline and Dine
The National Whitewater Center (5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy) will host the Zipline and Dine event on Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15. However, the Feb. 14 time slots are sold out, so register quickly to grab the last spots on the 15th. The event will feature an evening zipline experience for two, followed by dinner by a roaring fire with craft beer and wine.

Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, but please call Guest Services to let them know of your dietary restrictions at 704-397-3900. Tickets are $75 per person, which includes two drink tokens, and may be purchased on the event website. This event is not limited to couples.

Chocolate Adventure: Valentine's Day Experience
On Valentine's Day, Collaborative Ventures, a Charlotte networking group, will host Chocolate Adventure: Valentine's Day Experience at the Hilton Executive Park Hotel (5624 Westpark Drive). The event will offer participants chocolate and wine pairings, selected by the award-winning Dessert Specialists, who have been featured several times on the Food Network in competitions such as Pastry Daredevils. The husband-and-wife culinary pair will showcase their artisan chocolates as guests enjoy a live jazz band, dancing,- and heavy hors d'ouevres. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased on the Collaborative Ventures' website.

Valentine's Day Special Tapping at Duckworth's
For a sexy night out that isn't so stuffy, check out Duckworth's Taphouse in Ballantyne for a special Valentine's Day tapping of Foothills Sexual Chocolate. Pints can be purchased starting at 6:30 p.m. Foothill's Brewing Company describes the beer as "a cocoa infused Imperial Stout - Opaque black in color with a dark brown head. Big chocolate aroma with notes of espresso, blackstrap molasses, dark sweet toffee and dark fruit. Smooth dark chocolate backbone with complex notes of coffee, dark toffee and dark fruit."

At the Park Road location, Duckworth's will also host a special tapping of New Belgium's Lips of Faith La Folie, described as, "Sharp, clean and sour and malty - like biting into a fresh picked Granny Smith Apple," (Source). The fun starts at 6:30 p.m.
