Without a Fight

When: Wed., April 23, 7-9 p.m. 2014

Can soccer be used as a tool to prevent violence for at-risk children and young adults? The documentary Without a Fight poses that question as it follows a soccer league in Kibera, a slum-ridden section of Nairobi. Interestingly enough, the league has Carolina ties and is affiliated with Carolina for Kibera, an organization that “exists to develop local leaders, catalyze positive change and alleviate poverty.” The film sheds light on the group’s ongoing efforts and the plight of those living in the harsh landscape of Kibera. A Q&A session following the film will feature CFK executive director, Hillary Omala. To RSVP, search “Without a Fight Screening — Charlotte” on www.eventbrite.com. (Anita Overcash)
