Winthrop University World Percussion Ensemble

African and the Middle Eastern drums highlight the Gaudium Musicae concert season finale on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte. The Winthrop University World Percussion Ensemble will play djembe hand drums from Guinea and Mali as well as North African and Middle Eastern frame drums, Ewe barrel drums and Dagbamba “talking drums” from Ghana, and mbira dzavadzimu from Zimbabwe. The award-winning group is led by Winthrop distinguished Professor B. Michael Williams.
