Virtual Lunch and Learn: "Trustworthy, Loyal, Beleaguered: A Decade of Good Intentions in Boy Scouts"

When: Fri., Oct. 23, 12-1 p.m. 2020

Since its 100th anniversary in 2010, the Boy Scouts of America changed membership policies, faced criticism from Native Americans for appropriation of cultural dress and ceremonies, and filed for bankruptcy to compensate victims who were abused during their time in Scouting. USC Lancaster Professor of English Dr. Lisa Hammond interweaves her experience as a veteran Scout leader and the mother of an Eagle Scout with a discussion of BSA's difficult evolution. To register, send your email to usclnasp@mailbox.sc.edu and the Native American Studies Center will send respond with the meeting ID and password required to join the program.
