Van Gogh Alive

When: May 12-June 1 2014

It’s pretty clear that Vincent Van Gogh had issues (ie., the ear thing), but its also clear that he was one of the most gifted post-Impressionist painters to come out of Europe. The artist produced profound artwork before he spiraled down the slope of sanity. That’s where Discovery Place’s “multi-sensory experience” and Van Gogh Alive exhibition comes in. It’s got a little bit of crazy, as large screens project moving images of his works along with sounds and shots of statements taken from Van Gogh’s journal writings. It’s a very neat process and it comes complete with a real life Van Gogh impersonator, too. (Anita Overcash)
