Tribute to Lou Reed f. Ancient Cities, Sherman Hellville, Pullman Strike, Bums Lie, The Sammies, The-Eyebrows, Hectorina

When: Sat., Feb. 1 2014

When Lou Reed died in October of last year, he left behind an expansive and eclectic body of work. It’s the type of musical legacy that not only deserves a tribute, but is practically designed for one. But too many interchanging guitarists and front men can ruin the musical stew, so to speak. In this case, though, nothing seems quite so fitting. Reed’s career was defined by taking chances and mixing it up. Of course, all of that would mean little if the bill wasn’t up to snuff. Thankfully, the bands on this bill, which is a benefit for the Levine Children’s Hospital, will include some of the best and most beloved acts in Charlotte, including The New Familiars, Sherman Hellville, The Sammies, Hectorina, Temperance League, Pullman Strike, Ancient Cities and Bums Lie. The night will end in a six-band jam. (Jeff Taylor)
