There's no better story than a love story, especially when the bride is locked up and the groom is the only one with the key. But wait, what if that key has nothing to do with her heart, just the door? In Opera Carolina's performances of The Barber of Seville, that's just what happens when Dr. Bartolo vows to make Rosina his wife, whether she likes it or not. But have no fear, Count Almaviva is in gear for a heroic rescue mission planned by none other than a barber (who apparently forgot about his hair-cutting duties!) named Figaro. Through Jan. 31. $20-$125. Jan. 29, 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 31, 8 p.m. Belk Theater, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.operacarolina.org.
