THEATER: Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation

Wednesday, Oct. 6

Winthrop University's theater department is bracing for a battle of the sexes during upcoming performances of Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation — adapted from Aristophanes by Drue Robinson. The story goes something like this: After war breaks out in ancient Greece, a gal named Lysistrata gathers a band of women all opposed to the seemingly endless fighting. Armed with smart tactics, they come up with the idea to deny their men sex until the violence stops. Sounds like this could get interesting, right? Adult language and content. Held in Johnson Theatre. Oct. 6-9, 8 p.m.; Oct. 10, 2 p.m. & 8 p.m. Winthrop University, 124 McLaurin Hall, Rock Hill. 803-323-2493.
