"The first rule of Fight Club is: You don't talk about Fight Club." Oops ... well, now you know why I'm not in the club. Citizens of the Universe promises you an evening of bloody brawls and deranged enlightenment, as they perform Fight Club, a play by Dylan Yates based on the popular film and best-selling novel by author Chuck Palahniuk. The play is directed by James Cartee and features original music scores by George Brazil. Expect some fist-pumping disorder to shake up the Q.C. when your favorite characters — Jack (Diego Francica), Tyler (Stephen West-Rogers), Marla (Kaddie Sharpe) and the Space Monkeys (Bret Kimbrough, Chris Freeman, John Micheal Coutsos, Kenny Kline) — duke it out in the parking lot behind 1311 Central Ave. in Plaza Midwood. You can also enjoy pre-show drinks and music at Snug Harbor (1228 Gordon St.) at 6:30 p.m. and post-show meet-and-greets with the cast at Thirsty Beaver (1225 Central Ave.) The show is recommended for folks 18 and up. Performances may be canceled due to inclement weather. $10. July 2-4 and July 9-11, 8:30 p.m. Parking lot behind 1311 Central Ave. 704-449-9742 or 704-953-2874. www.citizensoftheuniverse.org.
