The Shared Story of Race in the South

Jimmie Lee Kirkpatrick and De Kirkpatrick share their story about race, football, and civil rights in 1960s Charlotte at UNC Charlotte’s Levine Lecture Feb. 21. The men’s compelling, intertwined histories as descendants of slave and slave owner has ongoing relevance to Charlotte’s progress towards creating greater racial equality. Two-hour complimentary parking after 5 p.m. at 7th Street Station: Bring parking ticket to the Museum for validation. Reception to follow the presentation. Registration is required.
