The Second City

When: Fri., Sept. 27, 7:30 p.m. 2013

In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Juliet asks, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” In today’s world, this quote could apply to The Second City. The company, noted for having bred the likes of Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Bill Murray and more, is constantly cycling through unknown comics, yet the company name remains a legend of sorts. Then again, you gotta start somewhere, and apparently this somewhere paves a pretty good path.a So while the cast of this touring production of Happily Ever Laughter may not have made a name for themselves in Hollywood or the Big Apple just yet, you very well could be looking at someone slated to become the Next Big Thing. Even if you’re not, they’ll make you laugh with a fusion of classic and new material related to the latest headlines and pop culture. Ah, doesn’t that smell sweet?
