Those who didn’t get enough of Clara’s adventures with the sugar plum fairies from Charlotte Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker can rejoice. Four days after the traditional version closes, Tchaikovsky gets turned on his head with Decadancetheatre’s retelling, which transposes the timeless fable to 1980s Brooklyn. An electric violinist joins a cast of dancers and emcee Kurtis Blow, who scored his first hit with the holiday-themed “Christmas Wrapping” in 1979.
Price: $20 and up.
