Pop sweetie Gwen Stefani has found her solo niche in new wave dance and club music that's teased with hip-hop. OK, so her previous band, the ska-pop outfit No Doubt, was musically much more interesting, but Stefani's solo stuff is reliably quirky and catchy. Her sophomore release, Sweet Escape, swirls her pop around electronica, with help from Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, and strolls into R&B territory.
