Here’s some food for thought


For CL’s Food Issue, we decided to bypass the posh nosh and look at humbler cuisine. First, food critic Tricia Childress goes on a search for Charlotte’s indigenous foods. (Hint: It’s not lobster or chateaubriand.) Then, intrepid reporter Jared Neumark risks his life (or at least his liver) to explore the city’s notable dive bars. Finally, writer Karen Shugart offers up a cheat sheet of cheap drinks, targeting which bars and eateries have the best booze deals on different nights.
