Dior, Chanel, Versace -- these names are sure to be found in the closet of any well-heeled socialite. And they represent the kind of fancy duds most of us could only dream about owning. In The Mint Museum's latest exhibit, we get to see how the other half lives through the stories of couture fashion. The museum showcases one-of-a-kind pieces that were lovingly created and hand sewn by some of the world's most iconic fashionistas.
The pieces range from daring cocktail dresses from Versace to the prim and proper taste of Chanel. A reflection of wealth and luxury are mirrored in the fine fabrics, exquisite fit and elaborate stitching. As you look, you wonder who were the women who wore these clothes. What were their lives like, and were they truly happy as they strutted around in these duds? Look as the story of fashion over the last 60 years unfolds, and see that no matter what various trends dictate, true style is timeless.
