A short history of both Chinese and Japanese brush painting techniques, introduction to the materials, and fundamental and modern methods. Participants can be new to this medium. First day will begin with an introduction to the "four treasures," which are ink, paper, brush and ink stone. Basic brush strokes will be presented through the "four gentlemen" - bamboo, orchid, plum, and chrysanthemum. The second day, create one or two paintings using the technique and medium.
