When: Fri., May 25, 9 p.m. 2012
Broken beat, a genre of electronic music, is a sound that broke barriers, the backgrounds of its ambassadors steeped in everything from soul and funk to house and acid jazz. Though its popularity has been of a mostly underground variety, the fervor of its fans has kept it alive. One such emissary, Daz-I-Kue (of the Bugz in the Attic ensemble), has been electrifying crowds since the early 2000s. Su Casa, a monthly shindig hosted at Dharma Lounge, celebrates its one-year anniversary by bringing Daz-I-Kue to the turntable in Charlotte for the first time. Known as “an oasis for Charlotte’s culturally starved,” the Su Casa party is the perfect place to hear this U.K. talent live. DJ Justice will open.
Price: $10 if you RSVP by May 23. To RSVP, send your full name to email@example.com; $15 at the door
