School of Rock schedules concert tribute to Woodstock

It's hard to believe that it has been 40 years since the original Woodstock, but even in all our disbelief, we must celebrate! The Paul Green School of Rock Music Charlotte invites you out to Symphony Park from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 for a day of peace, love and rock 'n' roll. You'll hear some of the greatest covers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Joan Baez and Crosby Stills and Nash, all performed by 12 local Charlotte bands, including Actual Proof, Leisure McCorkle, Matter of Fact and the School of Rock Showband, among others.

Not only is this day about the music, but it's also about food, art and community. There will be plenty of food and beer for sustenance, as well as vendors selling handmade jewelry, crafts, clothing and more. Get in touch with your inner hippie and splurge on some peace signs and tie-dye to help support our local artisans, and get a henna tattoo or face painting while you're at it. So make sure you put some daisies in your hair and break out the Birkenstocks for a day of celebrating one of the greatest concerts in our history.
