Ryan Bingham, The Wild Feathers, Pullman Strike

When: Thu., May 9 2013

RYAN BINGHAM Ryan Bingham gained national notoriety after winning a Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe Award for his song “The Weary Kind,” from the 2009 film Crazy Heart. Sure, that gave him some well-deserved attention, but the 32-year-old Bingham hasn’t lost a step in his songwriting. His 2010 album, Junky Star, continued down a songwriting path heavy on imagery and storytelling. His latest, Tomorrowland, was released in September of 2012 and has a harder edge than previous releases. A bit more plugged in than the acoustic-driven predecessors, Bingham’s raspy vocals have always enhanced the story a bit, no matter what’s in the background. Once pigeon-holed into the country genre, Bingham has come out swinging to fully embrace rock ‘n’ roll in the vein of Springsteen, Petty and Dylan.
