This performance, entitled Swimming in Dark Waters, features Rhiannon Giddens, Bhi Bhiman and Leyla McCalla performing songs about the old and new South and its history of protest songs — from the original inhabitants to recent immigrants. Giddens, a singer and multi-instrumentalist who’s known for her pervious work with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, is sure to be the standout here. (Jeff Hahne)
