Curls, kinks and locs were only the beginning when we spoke to Tinesha Matthews, co-owner of Revolution Ego, a local natural hair salon, about their upcoming event Revolt!: Textures, Visions, Sounds. This event will include "natural hair show mixes, fashion, art, music and poetry," says Matthews. The goal of Revolt! is to bring together visual artists, performance artists, music and natural hair lovers to inspire evolution, growth and oneness. We really like the sound of that! Local artists and poets will showcase their work, and attendees will see a variety of natural hair styles on models styled by the ladies of Revolution Ego, during a fashion show, with styling by Davita Galloway and makeup by Joy Randall. The event is free to the public and will be held at RE:Public (314 N. College St.) on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 8 p.m.-10 p.m., followed by Pop Life, Charlotte's longest running weekly party produced by The Sol Kitchen.
